TodayΒ we had another half day so we headed out with my youngest daughter Dylan’s friends to NYC for a day with the 2nd graders…we got lucky and found out from Rob “the line waiting guy” thatΒ starting today Black Tap was opening for lunch at 12PM!!! So he held our place in line for us just in case a crowd formed, but since they weren’t even publically announcing their new hoursΒ till FridayΒ on Instagram (that’s right, you’re hearing it here FIRST) we slipped right in! PS- The Soho location is opening a basement floor next month with additional seating and they are scouting out 2 new locations for the future!Β π
We sampled their 3 stapleΒ milkshakes and then found out after, that they gave us their old menu without their latest addition,Β the SOUR POWERΒ that they made especially for Zendaya! Once the kids saw a picture of it on Instagram they were really disappointed and we were so lucky that the manager Anthony gave us one on the house! (Yay for customer service!!!) This one was a real kid crowd pleaser because it was loaded with all kinds of rainbow candy- gummies, pixie sticks, nerds and lollipops !
We tossed around some ideas of what to do after lunch; the High Line (too cold π¬), Chelsea market (too engorgedπ), the MOMA (too rowdy and rambunctious πππ), The NYC Children’s Museum (too old? π§π») and decided to go the tourist route and take a chance on…MADAME TUSSAUD’S WAX MUSEUM!!!Β 10 years of being a mom, 36 years of living in NY and I’ve never been, so I was excited yet skeptical??? I was hoping the kids would at least know a few statues, but worried most would be over their heads and boring. My friend Sandy negotiated a good deal for us and in we went!π°π°π°

Believe it or not, there was ALOT of history as well! Each room had a different theme, and there were several floors to explore. The themes included: A-List Party, Film & TV, World Leaders, Spirit of New York, PopΒ Culture, Marvel 4d experience, Sports and Music. I was very surprised how many wax statues the kids actually recognized, and part of the fun was putting faces to names they have heard of but now get to see in person…for example ex USA Presidents and World Leaders, movie stars, sports players… etc
I really can’t say enough about this experience. Perfect blend of culture, kid fun, and exploration. If your kids aren’t typical picture takers, I’m telling you this is the kind of place they will be begging for a picture after picture after picture! Not for nothing, the Moms were taking selfies as well!Β π·πΈπΉ
I don’t want to share too many pictures from our day because I don’t want to ruin the experience for everyone…Lots of smiles, lots of laughs, lots of ability to run free, lots of loud voices and no fear of being shushed and lots of happy faces with a great group of #friendswhoarefamily on a half day in March. What more can you ask for? That’s a WOW in my book!Β β€οΈπππππ
Triple like! Great day with great ladies!! Wax Museum is officially on my list!
