I got home today from doing some
errands and I was met in my driveway with a pleasant surprise. I was greeted with a “Shabbat Shalom” from Rabbi Yaakov Wilansky from the neighborhood Chabad and he was delivering to me a freshly baked “still warm out of the oven” challah πβ¨οΈ from his wife Chaya. But it wasn’t just any challah it was an Oreo challah!
(www.facebook.com/chayaschallah.com) How π is that! It was very nice to get a token of appreciation for volunteering my time in the community! So unexpected by so appreciated! ππ½ππ½πΒ Not only did they bake us a warm yummy challah πβ¨οΈ but they even included the Kedem Grape Juice π, the kiddish cup and some chocolatesπ«!!! SO SWEET π
When my husband got home from work he was so excited because challah is his favorite! πππ½ I suggested to him that he give his kids a little Jewish culture π and show them how to do Shabbat. Being the nonjew π that I am (I’m actually 1/4 Jewish but that’s another post for another day) I obviously was no help but happy to play along! Surprisingly I even found Shabbat candles in my bag of tricks! π―However my darling Jewish husband couldn’t tell me if we needed 1 or more candles…Dylan suggested 8 for Hanukkah…π€πβ…so we had to wing it?
π¨ We said the prayers and then we dug in! The challah was delish! Even Skyler chowed down!
We checked out Chaya’s Challahs website and found out she bakes some really unique flavored challahs! I don’t typically need to buy challah since we don’t observe Shabbat but now that we are in the “know” we would definitely try out some of her awesome Challahs or bring as a gift to a friends house! Definitely excited to try out the cookie dough one! ππͺ Anyway…thank you Chaya’s Challah and to all my Jewish friends Shabbat Shalom! ππ½πππ Here is info from her site…
