Since we had my sister’s baby shower on Sunday we had some out of town family still with us, so I decided that I would let the kids play hooky πβand head for some family bonding in the city! The theme of the baby shower wasΒ a unique one, I thought at least, “Welcome to the World Lil Miss Jetsetter” since my sister and her husband love to travel. βοΈπΌ We had the shower at Mims in Roslyn. TheyΒ did a wonderful job, you get the whole restaurant to yourself and the food is always predictable and delicious. The staff was also wonderful and really made us feel at home…especially with my crazy family…Anyway, thats a post for another time…ππΆπ»πΈ
So we got an early start and headed out in the Sprinter!ππ¨ Here’s some new fun spots that we discovered and checked out that you may enjoy…ππ½π
We started our morning off at Diamondocity on the Upper East Side!
My friend, we shall call her “the informer”, sent me pics of this new art gallery/store on Lexington. Basically the store is jewelry for your walls. Popular images you would recognize but bejeweled in beautiful crystal sparkles!
My girls were especially excited to take their pics in the “Selfie” mirror that we hear all about.πΈππ½ We were all enjoying ourselves admiring the beautiful art pieces and taking family selfies until…well…I’m not even sure what happened…Dylan must have brushed against a frame and it fell to the floor. That wasn’t the end. Perhaps the vibration of the fall then caused frame number 2 and 3 to come crashing down!β¬οΈβ¬οΈβ¬οΈ3οΈβ£IΒ have never been more mortified in my life, we felt horrible TERRIBLE. The sales lady rightfully upset, handled the situation with grace and THANKΒ GOD nothing broke. π±π«π°ππ½ Here was the scene ofΒ the crimeΒ ππΎππΎππΎ
Well that really dampened our visit and sucked the wind out of us. The artist was really talented and the lady told us that they do all custom work. Hailey’s favorite piece was the rainbow poop emoji! ππ©
DylanΒ also loved the Oreos and Knicks basketball π…
I don’t want to ruin it andΒ show too many picturesΒ because it’s a fun experience and you and your kids will enjoyΒ it and see for yourselves. You can check them out on Instagram!
The pieces are pricey but they are beautiful and you can tell it takes a long time to make each custom piece!π€π€π€
We rushed out because we wanted to be first in line when Cool Mess opened at 12. ππ¦ Once again we had an awesome time. We loved their new photo props!
The staff is so nice and I just really love the relaxed vibe and the super kid friendly nature!
We also sampled another place from my original list NYC HOTSPOTS WITH COOL TREATS 4 KIDS. We sample the confetti, cake batter and chocolate chip cookie dough from COOKIE DO!
We took all of the fun pictures and and split 2 ice cream making experiences!
Our bellies were stuffed and we wanted to digest before we tried out another dessert place so we needed something to do. It was cold and rainy so we were limited and we also only had about 2 hours. ππ§ Make meaning was such a fun place but they closed down…but we were so excited to find an equal substitute with Little Shop of Crafts on the Upper West Side. π¨
The options were: ceramic painting that you could take home that day and then the one that needs to be fired and takes a week, wood painting, mosaic making, stuffed animals and Lego mosaics. The kids and a few adults chose to paint and the rest of the adults chose to do mosaics glued onto wood pieces.
I’ve actually never done mosaicsΒ before and really enjoyed it. Next time we go back the kids want to try the mosaics. It was a cool experience!
We ended our NYC tour at Holey Cream on 9th Ave and 53rd. This was another hotspot on my list and I was excited to try this concept out!
The shtick here is donuts filled with ice cream.π©π¦ We all picked out different combos- I picked a vanilla donut with vanilla frosting and rainbow sprinkles and stuffed with dulce de leche.
It was delish but I was still full from lunch!
Then of course every city day ends with a long ride home in trafficπππππππ‘…waze app took us on highways and side roads we never travel on and we landed up a few blocks from the house my mom and aunt grew up in Queens. πThe home owner happened to be working in his garage at the time and was gracious enough to show us the place.
Lots of memories came flooding back and it was a sweet treat to end our girls day in the city! π½π©π½π©π»π©π»π©π»π©πΌπ§π½π§π½β€οΈ
