Roundtable Discussion with US Congresswomen Kathleen Rice with Planned Parenthood πŸ‘©πŸ»πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ’“ She’s the REAL DEAL!

After meeting with NY Senator Elaine Phillips, and then missing the round table meeting with Rep. Tom Suozzi (3rd district) today I met with US Congresswoman Kathleen Rice today (district 4-Garden city and surrounding areas) with Planned Parenthood.

πŸ’“πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈIt was an intimate round table discussion with about 15 people or so.

She started off reiterating how disgusting it is to try to defund PPH and how she is 100% WITH PP. βœ”οΈπŸ‘πŸ½She went on to discuss how every single week in Congress the Repubs Would put up a bill to defund PPH and every week it would be denied and it became more about them going thru the motions just to appease their voters. Shortly after firmly reiterating her stance (and it was pointed out by a member that Rice supported PP even when it was not popular to do so) she took questions from us. ❓❓❓

Some questions were- what can we do to help keep PPH funding, what can we do to help her represent our voices in DC, what the heck is going on in DC, What’s going on with the Healthcare Act etc…in summary she could not reiterate enoughΒ -it is ESSENTIAL to be vocal and there’s no going back from here

-PPH has to stay prominent and in the spotlight, its important to continue to gather and protest and make our voices heard

-she said do not underestimate the power of protest, speaking to the media, and bringing to attention through any means what you believe in

-she said she went to the Inauguration out of respect for our country (does not respect Pres Trump and said he’s Unamerican and a few other choice words) and she said she was able to freely walk and get a coffee versuses the following day at the Women’s March she said you could not even more. πŸ‘We laughed about crowd comparisons with Jan 20 and Jan 21 and she said it was not even close.

-don’t think you’re repeating yourself too much, you can’t repeat yourself enough

-it is sooooo important for 2018 to turn statehouses more Demo

-it’s essential to get a good demo candidate to take over NY1 Lee Zeldins district for Suffolk

-Emily’s list needs to up their game and recruit better women candidates

-be as involved as you can especially for candidates that are pro choice

-she really supports introducing a bill that candidates for presidency HAVE to show at least 7 years of tax records and she mentioned Oprah (yay) πŸ’“and Sheryl Sandberg

She was definitely hot and bothered and joked that we were her therapy session. She was telling us how hard it is to go to D.C. when we are so outnumbered and she couldn’t stress enough how we have to keep up the fight, thank our media and reporters for all their hardwork and persistence. πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ‘πŸ½πŸ“½She didn’t even try to hide her hatred for DT, neither did she hide her displeasure with Nancy Pelosi. 😱Again I found the Pelosi part very interesting, especially the fact that 68ish reps said they would vote against her in a secret ballot but Rice was only 1 of 4 that voted against her in person. She is a strong believer in a new voice for the Democrat party. We also discussed how important townhalls are and we thanked her for doing one this past weekend. We discussed how Tom Suozzi had a successfully attended townhall last week.

She thought it was shameful that Rep. Peter King will not hold a townhall and meet with his angered constituents. Β Again she mentioned to take note that NY is way more Republican πŸ‘Ήthen we realize 😱and that the Democratic Party doesn’t do a great job in NY, and solely exists to reelect Gov Cuomo. πŸ€”She said this in the town hall and again I appreciated her being straight forward and honest.

She’s a wonderful speaker and had to whole room captivated. πŸ™ŒπŸΎ

Her schedule was pretty packed. βŒ›οΈSo after about 40 minutes her assistant said we had to wrap it up. We ended with a picture! πŸ“ΈπŸ’“πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‘©πŸ»Her parting words were to be “persistent and consistent”. πŸ’ͺ🏽
